Norm Dean, AIE Chair of Trustees - Associate Director of Council of International Schools

Norm Dean is the Associate Director of the Council of International Schools based in Australia. 

Prior to this Norm worked at Taaleem as Chief Education Officer based in Dubai, UAE and the Yew Chung Education Foundation as Deputy Director, based in Hong Kong.

Between 2006-2014 he was the Chief Education Consultant for Educational Services Overseas Limited, based in Dubai, UAE.

Before commencing his overseas career, Norm was Assistant Regional Director of Schools with the Victorian Education Department in his native country of Australia, with responsibility for school improvement and performance across a range of primary, special and high schools. Throughout his career Norm has been a teacher, principal, curriculum consultant, state-wide policy manager, school superintendent and assistant regional director. In addition, Norm has been a sought-after presenter and trainer in areas of leadership and management, professional learning and curriculum reform. In the international arena Norm has been involved with international school accreditation for many years as team member and chair and was an inaugural member and deputy chair of the Council of International Schools (Australia). Norm is a Master facilitator of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and has conducted programs in schools within Australia, Europe and the Middle East. Norm has been involved with the AIE since 2004 and is currently Treasurer of the Board of Trustees. Norm has a particular interest in the development of regional chapters and the potential they have to truly influence international mindedness and intercultural understanding.
